Spicy baked fennel, other than aubergines and potatoes, this recipe beats them all and this vegetable is even lighter.

Fennels are pleasantly prepared in many ways, but in my opinion when they are prepared in the oven they acquire another flavor. Soft in the heart and crunchy on the outside, fennel has a very pleasant taste and is very fresh, so if you prepare it in spring and summer, it is the perfect food because it is rich in water and fiber and doesn’t weigh you down at all.

Today we make this recipe of fennel cooked in the oven but with a handful of chili peppers to make them spicier, add that pinch of panache that never hurts in the kitchen. Usually this procedure is reserved for aubergines or potatoes, but in this case we have a vegetable that fits even better.

Baked spicy fennel

Here are the portions that are suitable for about 4 people, even three if hunger is felt a lot. A noticeable sense of satiety.

Ingredients

– 1 kg of fennel
– 2 tablespoons of olive oil
– 1 teaspoon of salt
– 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder

Preheat the oven to 220° C. Wash and clean the fennel, cut them finely and transfer them to an oven tray. Add the olive oil, salt, pepper and chilli powder and mix well. Bake in a preheated oven for about 25 minutes, turning the fennel halfway through cooking so that it browns evenly. When the fennel is cooked, remove it from the oven and serve hot.

To make this recipe even tastier, you can add a teaspoon of garlic powder before baking the fennel. If you want a more intense flavour, you can add minced fresh garlic or pizzaiola powder instead of the chilli. Baked fennel is excellent both as a side dish and as a snack. As an alternative to cooking in the oven, you can cook the fennel in a pan with olive oil and seasonings.
